Staruml use case1/14/2024 So, some system requirements could be preconditions (e.g., connectivity to a device) and some software installation may be a precondition (e.g., a required companion product integration), but only if they have a direct effect on the use case itself. To take you example, the "have to be logged in" precondition may be necessary if you expect different behaviour if the user is logged in or not, or if different privileges are required for the operation. This realization exercise will help you determine the form that the precondition will take, and even if it is still required depending on the structure of your application. As you start to realize your use cases as sequence or activity diagrams, for example, the preconditions give you some clue that a check may need to happen in the software, maybe necessitating a call to some other operation/module/class. In this way, the preconditions should only relate to the software (or system) you are building and not to external elements (e.g., "the computer is connected and turned on" is not a good precondition). Let's keep in mind that use cases are really high level requirements on what your software/systems needs to implement. This method not only make it easier specifying use cases, but also make complementary class model which permit domain specification, business rules identification and a first abstraction of the system design. :) Here is a simple example of a similar situation, demonstrating the idea (keep in mind that use case and class models are drawn on separate diagrams): Then you most likely realize that you probably do not need this precondition because it is simply too "low level" and out of my domain's scope. Returning to your example, if you wonder about the precondition "the software needs to be installed", you simply ask yourself "Do I really need a class 'Software' with an attribut 'isInstalled'?" ![]() This make a lot of sense, especially knowing that pre/postconditions query system's state, neatly reflected by objects/values. In order to achive this I normally use conceptual class diagrams - I model my domain and then express pre/post conditions and scenarios in terms of these elements (classes and their attributes) AND ONLY USING THESE ELEMENTS. In my experience there is a way to make use cases efficient - build another UML model, a complementary one, which would be used to formulate preconditions, postconditions and even use case scenarios (the same question you made for preconditions can be made for scenarios as well - which is a correct abstraction for a scenario? Or, is "turn on computer?" a valid step in a scenario?). ![]() These discussions can easily turn philosophical. We could even go further with preconditions like "operating system should be correctly configured" or even worse - "computer has electricity". "A precondition must be fulfilled in order."). UML sets the notational rules, and defines only basic element semantics (e.g. The answer to your question is therefore - could be right, could be wrong. ![]() Really good question that tackles the heart of the UML problems - it's weak semantics. Replica hoplite shield1/14/2024 At first, it had an oval shape and later it changed to rectangular. The word “scutum” literally meant “a shield” for the ancient Romans. It was because of its weight, which made the escape much more difficult. ![]() ![]() Some poleis tried to follow the Spartans, while in the other armies it was a shield to be dropped at once in the case of a retreat. What is more, the lack of a shield was even punished with death penalty, while returning without a spear or a helmet did not cause any outrage. The significance of a shield in Sparta can be illustrated by the words usually repeated by a mother who was saying goodbye to her son before a battle: “come back with the shield or on the shield”, namely as a winner or dead. At the time of the phalanx, such heroes as Achilles would not be appreciated, but just the opposite, they would be criticized for breaking the solid formation. The poet Tyrtaeus wrote songs praising the virtues of the Greek phalanx and he emphasized that the key aspect of it was to fight shoulder to shoulder with colleagues, without any individual daring exploits. The blows were inflicted obliquely downwards, aiming particularly at the torso, arms and face. By creating such a "wall" of shields, the warriors attacked their enemies with the blades of spears, which have measured up to 2-2.5 meters. The squeeze was so tight, that it made it impossible to fight with a sword. Since the formation required the maximum tightening, only one type of weapon could be used, namely a spear. The troops formed in this way moved in slightly slanted rows. As a result, the nearest soldiers were moving a bit back and to the left. The soldier was supposed to stand in a line, very close to the other hoplites, so that his shield overlapped the one held by his colleague on the left side, at the same time hiding under the edge of the shield carried by a warrior on the right side. In the Spartan army, hoplons (aspides) constituted the basis for the Greek phalanx, which was a special technique of fighting in a formation. ![]() The oldest initial discovered so far is "Λ" (Lacedaemon – Sparta), from 560 BC most probably. Moreover, the characteristic decorations were usually put on the outside, in the form of an individual figure mark (the most common theme was the head of Medusa), an ideogram or a specific initial of the particular polis (city-state), for example an owl in the case of Athens. To the outside part, leather (usually of a bull) was also added, as well as bronze, with particular attention to the edges. It was produced from the oak wood, with leather applied to the inside part. It was used for protection by the Greek soldiers, especially the heavy Spartan infantry, who were called hoplites, namely because of their shields. Painting depicting Hoplite with shield HoplonĪ hoplon, also referred to as an aspis, is a round shield from the period between the seventh and third centuries BC. The Gillware Data Recovery Engineers fix I/O device error problems all the time. First, in case you didn’t, know I/O stands for “input-output device error,” and the error implies access to the device is interrupted. On a Windows-based PC, the error means that the operating system is unable to perform a read or write activity to a connected device – that is, the request could not be performed. The I/O device error will be flagged against the impacted drive letter and it normally means either a logical problem with an attached device, a pending hardware fault, or potentially a hardware failure. A logical fault can normally be fixed by software tools that perform partition recovery. The storage device’s file system is likely to be damaged or dirty, meaning that multiple bad sectors on the media are preventing access to the data files. ![]() If the fault is hardware-related, there is a risk to data integrity. This might be caused by failing hardware, a head stack problem, or the hard drive or flash drive may have just worn out, it does happen if the hard drives are old, subject to constant heavy usage, or if dropped by mistake. We will tell you how to check for damage on your storage devices, USB flash drive, and memory cards, but please note that if the file system is ok, you will likely have a hardware error. If an error is confirmed, you will need to make a decision on how to proceed. #IFLASH DEVICE HD AUTHENTICATION FAILED WINDOWS 10#.#IFLASH DEVICE HD AUTHENTICATION FAILED HOW TO#. Battery Chargers and Docks for Nikon COOLPIX Finale vs dorico1/13/2024 ![]() Just getting Dorico SE involved downloading and running three separate authorizer/manager/whatever apps, and account updates. So far, none of the usual solutions offered by Support work. This means that I'm stuck in Eval for a product I've purchased. Although there's a place to enter my new license on the web site and I'm able to download and install the components without it, Download Assistant is needed to reconcile the older license on my USB eLicenser. D4 requires Steinberg Download Assistant which has never successfully run on any of my Macs. I'm in upgrade hell regarding my license. Hmmm? I updated to Dorico 4 and the version of HALion SE 3.5 that comes with that passed DP 11.03 verification over Monterey. It runs fine as a standalone app and works OK in Logic. Just examining the VST3 version leads to a crash. My notation needs ebb & flow, but it's worth having a grasp of the bigger picture.Īny luck with the Halion SE that comes with the free version of Dorico? The AU versions consistently crashes DP here. Need to spend some time there and get my feet wet. Thanks to MH for reminding me about Scoring Notes. Also, some notation software gets updates fairly regularly so such a comparison would require as many updates. If there was no grey area, just yes/no, then it might be easier to complete. Yet, I can see how it's logic works and my opinion is likely to shift as I get more comfortable. When I do the same process in Dorico, it feels clunky because I'm so unfamiliar with it. After 30 years with Finale some things I think of as easy to do are more about the fact that I'm so familiar with them. I'm already seeing some of that in my learning of Dorico. The difference between "Yes but clunky/stupid" and "best-in-class" might have more to do with a user's familiarity with the process than the process itself. The issue is in the ease-of-use category. I suspect if you did a comparison grid of whether or not the feature exists in an app, you would find a great deal of similarity-especially in the apps that are targeted for the same kinds of users.
